<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">nationally renowned vibraphonist JIM COOPER on Monday February 14, 2011</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">at the </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">world famous Jazz Showcase for a special Valentine&#8217;s Day performance.</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Selections from Erin&#8217;s original compositions and gems chosen from her four</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">albums will be performed; she will also debut new material and arrangements</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">in the two set line-up. Shows begin at 8pm and 9:45pm, respectively. The</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">cover is $10 per person, collected at the door before the performance</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">(people who pay for the first set do not have to pay another cover if they</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">choose to stay the second set as long as space permits); please note, there</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">is also a $10 or two drink minimum per person during each set.</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Erin McDougald is a dynamic, nationally recognized jazz vocalist and the</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">leading lady of the Chicago jazz scene. She has headlined Chicago&#8217;s premier</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">listening rooms, holding long-standing contracts as headliner in The</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Metropole, Intercontinental, The Pump Room, The Allerton&#8217;s M Avenue Jazz</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Club, The Palmer House, Plaza Tavern, Green Dolphin Street and many others.</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">She has recorded four albums under her direction, featuring her innovative</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">arrangements and her highly sophisticated original compositions. Her music</font></h2>

<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Jim has appeared at </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">the Chicago Jazz Festival, Sutton’s Bay Jazz Festival, </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Lansing Jazz </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">Festival, Thornapple Jazz Festival, the Idlewild Jazz Festival </font></h2>

<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">In the 1980&#8242;s Cooper teamed up with Chicago composer/pianist Bob Dogan, </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">The </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">Jim Cooper/Bob Dogan Quintet being a mainstay jazz combo on the</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Chicago jazz </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">scene. In 1990 an association with the legendary Ira Sullivan </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">culminated in </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">his two Delmark recordings Tough Town (1991) and Nutville </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">(1992). Jim is </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">currently celebrating the re-release of Nutville, with a recent</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">performance </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">with Ira at The Green Mill. Jim was a Delmark Recording Artist </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">in the early </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">90s which earned him national recognition, Jazz Times calling</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Cooper, “a </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">warm vibist who goes for the heart.” </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Since establishing himself in Michigan in 1997 after a three month stint</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">teaching in Taiwan, Cooper had the chance to perform with many fine</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">musicians from that state. .Jim’s current projects include writing for and</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">performing in The Cooper, Hay, Van Lente Group (releasing Trio Musik in</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">2007), gigging with Detroit clarinetist Dave Bennett, and his “Tribute to</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Benny Goodman Band” and leading “Mallet Madness,” a Chicago sextet </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">featuring </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">three vibes players which performed at the 2010 Chicago Jazz </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">Festival. He is </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">also finishing a book of his jazz compositions and planning </font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">a new CD in </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">2011. Jim holds two B. A.s from Northeastern Illinois University</font></h2>
<h2><font size="4" face="Tunga">and a M.M. </font><font size="4" face="Tunga">degree from Northern Illinois University. </font></h2>
