Phil Circle News

From Phil Circle himself:
" My new CD "Minutes To Circle" continues to get some great attention. I hope you’ll give it listen at: http://www.myspace.com/philcircle . I’ve even had various tracks played on WLUW 88.7FM in Chicago. I’d love it if you’d call them and request your favorite track from the new album. 773-508-WLUW (9589).
Making anything work in the Chicago music scene is difficult, so getting local radio play and having to order another 1000 more CDs is a fantastic start! I’ve been doing a lot of promoting, and one of my resources for ideas has consistently been Bob Baker the guru of Indie promotion. If you’re a musician too and looking for great ways to get your work out there, check him out. I’ve also found my personal Facebook page to be helpful, both in promoting shows and finding old friends, not to mention keeping up with current and new ones. If you’re not in my network there, please join. I’ll keep you up on various daily goings on in my life and music, and my friends and I always manage to keep up some interesting and funny threads.
If you come out to a show, I have new t-shirts, as well as CDs and download cards. These little cards are great for the person who prefers to have their music go directly to an MP3 player, and they cost less then the CDs. also, when you’re at one of my shows, and buy a t-shirt ($10) and a CD (also $10), I’ll throw in a FREE download card ($5 value) for you to pass on to a friend. My available CD’s include the new one, "Minutes to Circle" and a compilation with tracks from several previous releases. And everyone always gets FREE stickers. By visiting me on CD Baby you can hear and purchase many past CDs of mine, including work my old band Guilty. I am working on setting up more online listening opportunities for music from these past releases and will be sure to let you know as they go up. I’ll also be adding another compilation that will include covers, previously unreleased material, and live tracks from shows. Speaking of shows, here are some upcoming events:
Sundays: November 1st, 2009 and November 15th, 2009
I host and play the *Open Mic Night* from 9pm til 1am at
Hops and Barley
4359 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. That’s two doors south of Montrose. On other Sundays, Stolie is the host. She’s a great songwriter, very dedicated to Chicago’s scene, and doing quite well. Parking at Hops and Barley is easy and under 21 can attend with someone of legal drinking age, since they serve food. Each week, there’s a featured act from 9-10pm, followed by performances by myself (or Stolie) and whomever else signs up to play.
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 at 9:30pm
I’m playing a set as part of the Local Music Showcase at
Cubby Bear
1059 W. Addison in Chicago
That’s kitty corner from Wrigley Field (which should be draped in black after last season) at Clark St. You’ll hear several other local acts in a great cross section of Chicago talent. This is put together by a favorite local musician of mine named Patrick Gemkow. He always puts together serious talent for these events, so I hope you can make it!
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 at 10pm (doors open at 8pm)
I’ll be accompanied by two other band mates for a set at
Tonic Room
2447 N. Halsted St. in Chicago
Come early and stay late, since 3 other acts will be playing. It’s a $5 cover, so get your money’s worth! Of course I’m worth at least that, right? It’ll be a nice trimmed down line up of my band with Bill Corse on keys and Matteo on harmonica, so there’ll no doubt be some blues and some keys-based tunes. I’ll be playing some new tunes of my own, as well…stuff that will be on my next release.
So, I really hope you can make it to a show and experience my music live, pick up some deals on Phil Circle merchandise, make some new friends and catch up with me. As always–keep supporting live music in Chicago, land of 35,000 bands. In preparation for your next visit to one of my shows, you can visit my youtube page to see live video performances of me solo and with a band.
Thanks and see you soon! Phil Circle – Guilt By Association Records / GBA Music Studio
