Mary Hunter’s professional experience spans business, law, government and academia. As an entrepreneur, she founded three companies, including a well-loved neighborhood restaurant.

After serving as a litigation paralegal for several law firms in the Chicago area, Mary founded Artemis Enterprises in 2007 to strengthen communities by working with families facing foreclosure or eviction because of predatory financial practices.

Mary served as Chief Operations Research Analyst in the Domestic Violence division of the Chicago Police Department, where she trained police officers on issues of public safety specific to the protection of women and children.

 

Mary serves as a board director for Heartland International Health Center, which, in partnership with Chicago Public Schools, developed the new health clinics at Roosevelt High School and Hibbard Elementary School. As the mother of a CPS graduate who is now attending college, Mary and her family personally understand the strengths and challenges facing our students, teachers and schools.

 

Mary has lived in the City of Chicago for more than 30 years. She and her family have made their home in the 39th ward home since 1996.
