32nd Annual Chicago Jazz Festival

September 2, 3, 4, 5, 2010

An opening night concert, with a special guest to be
announced shortly, has been added at Millennium Park on Friday, September 3, with more to be released for performances on Thursday, Sept. 2 at the Cultural Center.

Then on Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5, the festival moves to Grant Park with four performance stages, a wine garden courtesy of Wine Australia, an art fair and lots of food & beverages to enjoy.

Scheduled performers include artist-in-residence Nicole Mitchell, Henry Threadgill, Brad Mehldau, Kurt Elling, The Either/Orchestra with special guests Mahmoud Ahmed & Getachew Mekurya, Rene Marie, and Brian Blade.  There will also be tributes to Abbey Lincoln by Maggie Brown and Lee Morgan by Charisma.

This year,  they bring back the newest stage, the Community Trust Young Jazz Lions Stage featuring high school and college ensembles.

 

Also, as a prelude to the festival, the Chicago Jazz Partnership will be hosting more jazz programming at the Chicago Cultural Center on September 1 and in Millennium Park on September 2.
